Plastering in Diss, South Norfolk

This is our patch. LDR is based near Diss, so when you call about a job in IP22 you are calling someone local who knows the streets and the houses on them. Plenty of homes round here are period cottages, and a good few still have their original lime-plaster walls. That old plaster does not behave like modern gypsum, so it pays to have someone who understands it before anyone starts skimming.

We take our time with these older walls. Rush a skim over lime plaster and it can go wrong quickly, so we prep properly and use the right approach for the surface we are working with. If a wall is too far gone, we will re-plaster it. If it just needs freshening up, a careful skim brings it back flat and smooth without losing the character of the place.

Alongside skimming and re-plastering, we handle plasterboarding, ceilings, coving and decorative mouldings, and patch repairs for those spots where the wall has cracked or crumbled in one corner. Cottage ceilings can be uneven and low, and we are used to working around beams and awkward shapes rather than fighting them. Need fire-rated plasterboard somewhere? We fit that as well.
